“Speed, quality, and friendly personalized service have
kept us at Mitchell Press for nearly two decades.”

Janice Whitehead, Publisher
Preview, The Gallery Guide

For 30 years, the art magazine Preview: The Gallery Guide has enjoyed rave reviews and ongoing success.  Originally established as a special edition for Vancouver’s Expo 86, Preview (then known as Art 86) has now grown to enjoy distribution throughout the Pacific Northwest, including BC, Alberta, Washington and Oregon.

In the early years, the 32-page document was printed on sheet-fed presses, but as the publication grew to 80-pages with a distribution of up to 30,000, Preview publisher Janice Whitehead sought to streamline production. “Sheet-fed printers took too long to print. We needed to turn the project around in a few days, instead of over a week,” says Whitehead.

Nearly 20 years ago, Preview investigated multiple web press production companies across Canada and ended up selecting Mitchell Press to become their long-term printing partner.  “With advances in web press technology and the diligence of Mitchell Press, Preview is able to produce a top quality magazine that is highly regarded in the industry.”

“We are able to achieve a lot better colour balance with Mitchell Press. The proofs we get are exactly what we end up with in print,” says Whitehead.  “It is such a joy to not have to deal with 3:00 a.m. press checks anymore.”

Whitehead also appreciates Mitchell Press’ great customer service.  “Mitchell Press is the right size where I get personal attention and pleasant people to work with. If there is ever an issue, it is dealt with quickly and efficiently.”

With gorgeous art imagery and quality printing, Preview consistently receives international attention. Whitehead adds, “I consistently enjoy positive feedback, with comments like ’Wow, that’s beautiful!’  People are always impressed.  Thanks Mitchell Press for helping us succeed.”

Preview: The Gallery Guide is a complimentary magazine supported by advertisers and is available in art galleries throughout the Pacific Northwest.  The publication is also available by subscription, with a small postage fee.  Preview can also be viewed online at
