Island Health Magazine

“Mitchell Press’ outstanding service and superb quality contributed to the production of an award-winning publication.”

Susan Evans, Editor & Senior Writer,
“Island Health Magazine”
Island Health

In 2014, Island Health established a new quarterly magazine, Island Health magazine, as part of their broader communications strategy to improve the health of the population through health promotion initiatives and improved access to health information.

Their goal was to print 15,000 copies of the complimentary 32-page magazine and distribute it across Vancouver Island. As a government organization, Island Health initiated a “request for proposal” and received a number of submissions from web press printers. Mitchell Press won the contract because “they offered the best quality product at the best price,” says Island Health magazine senior writer and editor, Susan Evans. “We also chose Mitchell Press because of their extensive experience producing high quality, glossy publications.”

Mitchell Press worked closely with Island Health to find the perfect paper stock to create this visually impressive publication. “We worked closely with Mitchell and tried out several paper weights and finishes before we found the right one,” says Evans. “The magazine looks amazing; the quality is really superior for a free publication and I believe the printing quality contributed to Island Health winning multiple awards.” (See awards below).

Mitchell Press was also instrumental in helping to set-up the distribution throughout Vancouver Island, including bundling shipments to various waypoints and connecting Island Health to a local distribution contractor for delivery to libraries, recreation centres and shopping area kiosks.

“Mitchell Press provides outstanding service,” adds Evans. “We also really appreciate that Mitchell Press has a sales representative on Vancouver Island.” This is testament to Mitchell Press’ commitment to providing comprehensive, personalized service.

“I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Mitchell Press for any similar magazine print project,” concludes Evans.
